Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum Toxin

Anti wrinkle injections

As we age, due to multiple factors such as genetics, lifestyle, sun exposure; we develop fine lines and wrinkles on our skin. Over time, these lines can become deeper and develop into ‘static lines,’ i.e. lines that remain at rest. There are several different treatment options to soften these wrinkles. The most common being botulinum toxin.

Botulinum toxin type A is a prescription only medication that when injected, temporarily inhibits the neurotransmission between nerve endings and muscles. The result is that the muscles which cause dynamic facial expression are less active, and less wrinkles form.

Toxin can also be used in the treatment of undesirable sweating, meaning no more unsightly marks on your clothing.

Each patient is different and skilful injection is required to achieve the desired outcome for each individual. It is not a one-size fits all approach. A common misconception is that toxin will make you ‘frozen’ or stop your face from moving completely. This is untrue, and an experienced injector will be able to leave you with movement whilst softening your lines.
