Polynucleotides are extracts of fish DNA (this can either be from salmon or trout) that are extracted and when injected into the skin, stimulate our fibroblasts to produce more collagen and elastin. As we know, collagen and elastin are the building blocks of our skin, so increasing the amount of these proteins results in firmer, plumper, healthier looking skin. The products we use at Dr Olivia James are only from companies where the product is harvested as a by-product of the food industry.
Polynucleotides can be used all over the body, particularly popular underneath the eyes but also all over the face, neck and decolletage. Wherever they are injected they improve skin texture, boost skin hydration and also have anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties.

Some puffiness is to be expected, this can last 24-48 hours. Some bruising possible.
long lasting results best seen after third treatment, one maintenance session every 6-9 months.
£200 per session.
(including 30-minute consultation)
Numbing cream is applied to the area for 30 minutes before in order to make the procedure as pain-free as possible, however, mild discomfort is normal but some people feel very little.
Three sessions are recommended 2-4 weeks apart. Some results will often be seen after the first session with maximum results a few weeks after the third. A maintenance treatment is recommended every 6-9 months.
Most patients will benefit from polynucleotides; however, they are not suitable for anyone with a fish or shellfish allergy due to the nature of their composition.
Polynucleotides are not fillers. They will not replace lost volume. However, if you have areas of thin, crepey skin they will improve the quality and texture of the tissue. Unlike fillers, polynucleotides are metabolised out of the body in a few weeks.
