Skinpen uses sterile medical grade needles to create thousands of microchannels within the skin. These microtraumas within the skin stimulate your own cells to produce more collagen and elastin. Skinpen is incredibly precise. The depth of needle penetration can be altered in order to target the skin concern, whether that be acne scars, hyperpigmentation or fine lines and wrinkles. The Skinpen creates 1600 microchannels per second and each of those creates an opportunity for more collagen and elastin production, through initiation of the wound healing process.

Pre-treatment advice
- Do not take blood thinning medications such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen (unless prescribed by your doctor) 72 hours before your appointment. If you are taking prescription blood thinning medication, please inform your practitioner prior to your appointment.
- Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment.
- Arrive with a make-up free face.
- Avoid active skincare ingredients for 7 days prior to treatment.
post-treatment advice
- Avoid intense exercise for 48 hours after treatment.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours after treatment.
- Only topical skincare for first 48 hours following treatment should be that provided by your practitioner. After this, usual skincare can resume however, any active ingredients such as exfoliators or retinols should be avoided for 7 days after treatment.
- Avoid extremes of temperature such as ice baths or saunas for 72 hours after appointment.
- Leave 2 weeks either side of your polynucleotide treatment before having any other facial aesthetic treatment.
- For mild pain post treatment, take Paracetamol.
- Avoid touching or rubbing the area for 48 hours.

What should I expect after treatment?
Expect to see redness for the first 24-48 hours. This indicates that the wound healing cascade has begun. After 48 hours, your skin should begin to return to its normal colour, however, it will appear plumper, firmer, skin texture will be improved, and pore size reduced.

does it hurt?
Numbing cream is applied to the treatment area. You will feel a vibration from the pen. You should not feel any pain but may feel small areas of very mild discomfort.

How many sessions do I need?
This depends on the targeted concern we are treating. It also depends on the severity of the concern. Up to six treatments can be necessary for more severe conditions e.g., ice-pick acne scars. Most patients require a maintenance appointment every six months, but this can be done as frequently as every month.
